Being in Paris during the Olympics was a thrilling experience. I arrived 5 hours early in Montmartre to see the cyclists tour. I won’t lie and say it wasn’t a pain in the ass to keep my perfect spot but luckily I befriended a group from Holland who kept my spot when I went to the bathroom and ordered lunch. When the race started and the cyclist arrived, that’s when all the madness started and people pushing their way to the front. In the commotion of it all, l I tried to take pictures from different angles and wished I had those professional telephoto lens. I had my Fujifilm X Pro 2 with a 18-55MM F2.8 lens and it did a good job in getting clear shot that I liked. I could only imagine what it’s like being a professional photographer with the best equipments capturing history in the making. What I learned from this experience was how important it is to compose well, shoot with purpose, and enjoying the process. It take time to progress in photography and one have to adapt to fast changing situations. I’m glad I got to capturing these moment at the Olympics Games and hopefully will attend another one in the future.
I will admit that I haven’t had much luck in using analog cameras. My two Minolta SRT 101 went bad on me last year. The Argus/Cosina I purchased in Washington D.C was useful until it wasn’t (big black dust inside of the view finder). The Fujifilm HD-M had mechanical issues which bummed me out because I was really looking forward to using it this summer. I recently received the Pentax Spotmatic and will be using it very soon and posting the results here. I’m looking forward to it and getting back to Film Photography. It was during COVID that my love for it started & grew. The process of it all helped me be more intentional with my shots and to really learn the basics that digital cameras makes it easy to forget. Here are some pictures from Arizona (Camera Argus/Cosina STL 1000)& Asahi Pentax Spotmatic in Basse-Normandie!
My first Medium format camera. The Zenza Bronica ETRS which was introduced into the market in 1979. So far I am pleased with how it feels in the hand, the build and image quality, and the overall usage of it. It’s always a gamble buying second hand camera from the internet but so far all the cameras purchases I have made from the French website leboncoin.fr has been solid!
